The Industrial Drafting Technology Program at Fullerton College provides students with a variety of classes in industrial drafting. Many classes utilize computer software such as AutoCAD and Solidworks. Students will develop the skills to create computer-rendered drawings, blueprints and models for engineering and manufacturing industries. Courses available include Solidworks, Advanced Solidworks, AutoCAD for Industry, Advanced AutoCAD for Industry, 3D Applications Using AutoCAD, Fundamentals of Drafting, Blueprint Reading for Manufacturing and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

JOB OUTLOOK: Overall employment of drafters is projected to grow 7 percent from 2016 to 2026. Employment growth will vary by specialty. Growth in the engineering services and construction industries is expected to account for most new jobs for drafters. However, computer-aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM) technologies allow engineers and architects to perform many tasks that used to be done by drafters, which is expected to temper demand for all drafters.
